Abstract

Heart failure is a clinical syndrome with complex pathophysiology. Endothelial dysfunction has a central role in the pathophysiologic sequence of heart failure. In patients with cardiovascular diseases, statins can improve endothelial dysfunction, ameliorates atherosclerosis progression and decrease cardiovascular events. However the exact role of statins in endothelial function, cardiac function and in the prognosis of heart failure patients has not been determined. Therefore, in this review article we discuss the novel evidences concerning the role of statins in endothelial function and heart failure progression.
